The UMKC Dental and Dental Hygienists’ Alumni Associations welcomed 2018 Midwest Dental Conference (MDC) attendees to the first of four days of meetings, reunions, celebrations, Technical Exhibits and Scientific Sessions at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel and Westin Hotel at Crown Center.

In keeping with the conference’s theme of “Celebration Meets Education,” Thursday’s Scientific Sessions featured programs tailored to the specialties of periodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery and pediatrics. But the day wasn’t only about learning. There was also a huge celebration! As the day eased into night, evening attire emerged among the more than 300 people attending the annual Pouring from the Heart charity gala. Patrons of the event enjoyed an unforgettable evening of fine food (five gourmet courses) and drink (professionally selected pairings). Dinner was followed by an auction of incredible travel and entertainment packages. All proceeds from the event support the UMKC School of Dentistry’s Indigent Care Fund, which enables disadvantaged patients to receive essential oral health care at the School.  Enjoy Thursday highlight photos.
