Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene Program

Explore infinite career routes with our Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene. The comprehensive program was designed to offer dental hygiene students more career flexibility. Students receive a solid clinical foundation to solve complex problems in a traditional private practice setting. The degree also emphasizes the other vast career opportunities that exist in less traditional office settings – research, teaching and more. Students will graduate ready for positions in the changing health care market.

Our intensive program gives students a competitive edge in the job market. Our courses were created to ensure graduates step into leadership roles, find diverse jobs and work collaboratively with other health care professionals. We offer something that’s unsurpassed in the region. UMKC is home to the only public dental school in Missouri or Kansas. Our dental hygiene students benefit from working alongside DDS students. It offers our students access to nationally-recognized researchers, advanced laboratories, extensive oral health libraries and a vast network of employers. Dental hygiene students will also benefit from UMKC’s emphasis on interprofessional connections among its life sciences students – be it dental, pharmacy, medical or nursing and health studies.

The application cycle occurs once a year, opening on August 1st and closing on December 1st annually.  Applicants must submit their application before the application deadline to be considered for the Fall program start date.
