Pouring From the Heart

Pouring from the heart was an incredible kickoff to a full weekend filled with connections and celebrations. In its 23rd year, the gala raised funds for both patients and students of the UMKC School of Dentistry. The money raised will be distributed between fourth-year dental and senior dental hygiene students to help cover the cost of care for patients. Not only does this assistance directly impact the community, but it powerfully affects our students by offering real-world experience, easing the burden of clinical requirements and fostering the cycle of giving.

UMKC Alumnus, Steven St. John – radio personality for local radio station 810 Sports – was the evening’s emcee and led attendees in a fun-filled night that included a silent auction, an intense battle to be the nights’ VIP table and a vacation-themed live auction, which was led by the Nigro Brothers. UMKC School of Dentistry students Roda Mena and Taylar Morgan illustrated why the event is so important by telling attendees about their experiences with some very special patients. On top of all that, attendees enjoyed a four-course meal, including a delectable dessert bar, along with chef paired wines to enhance each course of the meal.

Thank you to the steering committee, donors and especially Presenting Sponsors: the Jack F. and Glenna Y. Wylie Charitable Foundation, Midwest Trust and Thomas A. McDonnell. Without them, we would not have been able to raise more than $100,000 for such a special and important cause. Because of the generosity of Pouring From the Heart’s attendees and donors, the School of Dentistry continues giving our patients essential treatment, creating healthy smiles and forming a community of gratitude.`
