The Reserved Admissions Program for the Dental Hygiene BSDH degree at UMKC enables highly motivated students who are in their senior year of high school to apply directly to the School of Dentistry for a reserved seat in a future dental hygiene class.  Accepted students are able to participate in developmental opportunities with the Office of Student Programs throughout their first two years of college. Once candidates meet the full criteria they are allowed to by-pass the traditional dental hygiene application process for admission.

Criteria to apply for the DH Reserved Admissions Program:

• 24 ACT
• 3.5 high school GPA (unweighted)
• Students must commit to taking prerequisite coursework at UMKC

Students must maintain the following criteria once in college:

• 3.4 College GPA and Science GPA
• 30 hours of community service per year
• 30 hours of dental hygiene shadowing per year
• Required meeting with DH admissions advisor after first semester of college
• Participate in extracurricular/leadership activities

How to apply:

• Fill out an application to UMKC and select the major “pre-dental hygiene”
  • Including ACT scores, high school transcripts, and application fee or fee waiver
• Submit a supplemental application
• Have one reference submit a reference letter to dh@umkc.edu
• Application deadline is March 1^st

It is important to note that participation in the Reserved Admissions track will set students up for success in gaining admission to the UMKC BSDH program. However, there are several criteria students must meet in addition to the requirements listed above, which are required of any student applying to the program. They are listed below:

• Pass an on-site interview
• Pass the criminal background check
• Pay seat deposit after acceptance
• Successful completion of prerequisite coursework
• Complete matriculation requirements after acceptance such as receiving the proper immunizations, CPR training, etc.
