On March 24, 2023, the Office of Student Programs hosted incoming dental hygiene students at its annual Welcome Reception. Members of the Dental Hygiene Class of 2025 and their guests came together to celebrate the students’ acceptance to the UMKC School of Dentistry.

This pre-orientation event offers a chance for the students to start getting familiar with the path ahead, the financial aspects of dental school and the resources available to them. Students enjoyed presentations from faculty, staff and students and participated in icebreaker activities like Four Corners to get to know their future classmates. They heard from the Dean as well as faculty and staff from the Hygiene Department, Student Programs, Roo Advising and Financial Aid and were able to tour the building with current hygiene students. After their time at the dental school, they rounded out the day with a meet and greet at Messenger Coffee. This impressive class was selected from over 100 applicants, represent Kansas and Missouri and have an overall average GPA of 3.64.
