Dr. Simon MacNeill is a tenured Full Professor in the Department of Periodontics and is Board Certified in Periodontics. He is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. From 2000-2013 he was the Director of the Advanced Education Program in Periodontics and assumed the role again as Interim Program Director in 2021. In addition, Dr. MacNeill was a member of the UMKC Adult Health Sciences Institutional Review Board from 2011-2013, and then served as the Chair of the UMKC Institutional Review Board when the Adult Health Science and Social Science Review Boards merged in 2014. He also serves as a faculty member and examiner for the LSU Annual Periodontal Review Course, and from 2010 to 2016 served as a Specialty Site Visitor for the Commission on Dental Accreditation. He has received Educator Awards for outstanding teaching and mentoring from the American Academy of Periodontology and most recently was awarded the University-wide Elmer F. Pierson Outstanding Teaching Award.
