About Dental Discovery

Are you considering becoming a dentist? Learn about rewarding careers in dentistry at our Dental Discovery program. 

Dental Discovery program activities:

  • Touring the UMKC School of Dentistry
  • Shadowing students in the general dental clinic
  • Meeting peers with similar interests and goals
  • Making dental impressions 
  • Simulating using a dental drill
  • Attending presentations by faculty, alumni and local practitioners
  • Meeting our admissions staff and learning about the process for applying to dental school and how to become a successful dental school candidate

Qualifications and Expectations

All late high school students (Junior and Seniors) and early college students (Freshman and Sophomore) are welcome to apply.  

Eligibility considerations:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • An interest in a career in dentistry or dental hygiene
