Affordability
UMKC’s Doctoral of Dental Surgery (DDS) Program is a four-year Professional degree program. Learn more about current tuition and fee rates. Please note that students are required to attend and pay tuition and fees for summer classes during every year of Dental School. This includes the summer semester following your first year of dental school [year 2].
The School of Dentistry has exchange agreements with Arkansas, Hawaii, Kansas and New Mexico to offer a full waiver on the non-resident tuition for a limited number of residents of those states. A limited number of highly qualified applicants from other states are accepted each year, and may be eligible for a SOD Dean’s Nonresident Award that waives 50%-100% of the non-resident tuition.
A limited number of scholarships ranging from $5,000-$20,000 are available based on academics, oral health equity, leadership, service and financial need. For more information, please contact the Office of Student Programs.
DDS students can apply for financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year of the program. For help filling out the FAFSA, read over the FAFSA Quick Guide.
The majority of financial aid for DDS students is in the form of loans from a range of sources. Please check the UMKC Financial Aid and Scholarships for more information.
DDS students are Professional students and not eligible for federal, state or institutional grants.
