Biography

Sumita Sam is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologist and completed her residency from the University of Florida College of Dentistry. She received her DDS from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2017 and is a Michigan native. She previously held a faculty position at the University of Florida and currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Pathology, Radiology, and Medicine at UMKC. She teaches didactic courses to dental residents, predoctoral students, and hygiene students. In addition, she participates in UMKC’s Oral Pathology Biopsy Service and provides clinical consultations for dental patients in the student and faculty practice clinics.

Dr. Sam has presented at national professional meetings, has published in several peer-reviewed publications, and was co-author of the Diagnostic Discussion in the Florida Dental Association’s journal: Today’s FDA. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.
