Biography
Josephine Itakpe, is a board-certified Orofacial Pain Specialist with extensive training in the biopsychosocial and pharmacological approach to the management of temporomandibular disorders (TMD), complex orofacial pain conditions, and oral mucosal diseases. She obtained her Dental degree from the University of Benin, Nigeria, followed by a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Pharmacology. She later earned a Master of Science (MS) in Oral Science from the University of Iowa and completed her specialty training in Orofacial Pain at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine.
Her clinical and research focus includes the role of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) inhibitors in the management of musculoskeletal and orofacial pain, as well as innovative strategies for chronic pain conditions. Dr. Itakpe’s background brings a strong interdisciplinary perspective to pain management and the care of oral mucosal disease within the scope of dental medicine.
