Welcoming the Dental Hygiene Class of 2021

The Office of Student Programs and the Division of Dental Hygiene hosted incoming dental hygiene students at its annual Welcome Reception on Friday, March 15, 2019. Members of the Dental Hygiene Class of 2021, guests, and the UMKC School of Dentistry community had an opportunity to come together and celebrate the students’ acceptance to the UMKC Dental Hygiene Program. This event offers information to students about next steps, includes time for incoming students to meet their future classmates and faculty, and provides the opportunity to hear from a financial aid advisor about paying for dental hygiene school and managing student debt.

Over 80 percent of the incoming students were in attendance at this optional program. The incoming class will return to the School of Dentistry August 14 to begin their first year of the dental hygiene program. The geographic distribution of the 30 new students includes the following states: Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, California, and Nebraska. Their average science GPA is 3.45. They all possess dental experience through observation and assisting, as well as extensive community service participation.
