On Wednesday January 24th, 2018, UMKC School of Dentistry students and faculty traveled to the State Capitol in Jefferson City, Mo., to attend the Annual Legislative Day, sponsored by the Missouri Dental Association. This event, which is attended by dentists throughout the State of Missouri, gives our students the opportunity to speak with their legislators about issues affecting the dental profession.

The faculty members who participated included: Dr. Connie White, Dr. Lance Godley, Dr. Jack Nelson, Dr. Brenda Bohaty, and Dr. Jared Gerhardt. The junior and senior dental students who attended the event included: D3 students, Celeste Roberts, Rachel Karabas, Karlton Smith, Mohammad Alshaye, and Parth Patel; and D4 students, Paula Rodriguez, Julianna Harman, Michael Silva, Matthew Buswell, David Casteel, Drew Nuckolls, Ryan Riggs, Sharon James, and Tareq Abdulresoul. The UMKC delegation also include two pediatric dental residents from Children’s Mercy Hospital: Dr. Brett Zobell and Dr. Maha Sidhom.
