Reception Desk Redo

During the week preceding the first day of the Fall Semester, the School’s patient reception area was awash in frantic activity — not with patients and students, but with a construction crew. Their mission was to replace the reception counter that has greeted patients since the building opened in 1971. When students, faculty, staff and patients arrived for the first day school, Monday, August 21, they pleasantly surprised to find a brand new counter designed to help everyone enjoy greater efficiency, privacy, and safety.

“The School updated the lobby to reflect contemporary concepts in providing our patients privacy and comfort while they register and check-in for their visits,” said Dean Marsha Pyle. “The modifications also offer our patients an attractive and responsive reception area to enhance their visit to the School. This new look is one way that we continue to meet the needs of our patients and visitors. All in all, the change in the reception area was much needed and looks great, too.”

Gone is the imposing reception desk, but not the friendly faces of the reception and billing staff. Each work-area is self-contained with its own computer, scanner and label printer and panels are now in place to help protect their privacy when patients are registering. The area now offers readily accessible, ADA-compliant check-in stations and a new cashier window that faces the reception area.  Photos from the project.
