Dr. Scott F. Gruwell is a graduate of Brigham Young University and received his D.D.S. from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He received his certificate in periodontics in the U.S. Air Force at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, TX while simultaneously earning his M.S. from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
Dr. Gruwell is currently the Director of the Advanced Education in Periodontics and a member of UMKC’s Graduate Faculty. Prior to his appointment in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Dentistry, Dr. Gruwell served over ten years in the U.S. Air Force including four years as a faculty member in the U.S. Air Force Periodontics Residency. Additionally, Dr. Gruwell has spent two years in private practice. Dr. Gruwell is a member of numerous professional dental organizations and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Gruwell has received multiple awards for his teaching and published several scientific articles and abstracts on various topics related to the field of periodontics. He continues to serve as a peer reviewer for several journals and is currently a member of the American Academy of Periodontology’s In-Service Examination Committee.
