Dr. Pin-Chuang “Patrick” Lai graduated from Taipei Medical University (Taipei, Taiwan) with a D.D.S. degree in 2004. He attended Ohio State University and received his certificate in Periodontics and Ph.D. degree in Oral Biology in 2015. He joined University of Louisville as a full-time periodontal faculty member from 2016 to 2022, and recently joined the faculty at UMKC as Associate Professor and Director of the Advanced Education Program in Periodontics.

He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in 2016. He received Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring in Periodontics award from the American Academy of Periodontology, Fellowship to the Institute for Teaching & Learning from AAP foundation and was nominated for the Faculty Favorites Award of University of Louisville in 2020. His research interests include application of systemic antibiotics in periodontics, periodontal plastic procedures and implant site development.
