Dr. Melynda Meredith earned her B.S. in Biology from the University of Missouri-Columbia in Biological Sciences in 2003, followed by her D.D.S. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2007. She spent the subsequent seven years working as an associate dentist in a private practice and as a staff dentist in an urban public health facility. She has been active in the Greater Kansas City Dental Society, volunteered at MOMOM (free dental care event), and is a board member and current treasurer of the UMKC School of Dentistry Alumni Association.

She joined the faculty at UMKC School of Dentistry in January of 2014. The majority of her time is spent on the clinic floor, interacting with students as well as patients. She is the course director for Operative 1 lecture and lab and has been course director for Operative 2 lecture. She also acts as one of the Practice Coordinators in Team 2. She has served as a faculty mentor for Table Clinics and serves as faculty advisor for two student organizations: Student Professionalism and Ethics Association and the Academic Dental Careers Fellowship Program. In May 2014, she received the Colgate Scholarship to attend the Institute for Teaching and Learning two-phase academic leadership program, which she completed in October 2014. She completed the University of Missouri Faculty Scholars program in 2017. She is UMKC’s representative to the regional Consortium of Operative Dentistry Educators annual meetings and is an active member of the American Dental Association Test Construction Team.
