Dr. Ball is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Clinical Sciences at the UMKC School of Dentistry since 2013. He teaches in both the clinical and preclinical laboratory settings, as well as serving as a director for two courses. Dr. Ball is a prosthodontic consultant for the Kansas City V.A. Dental Service.

Dr. Ball retired in January 2013 after serving 37 years in the Department of Veterans Affairs-Department of Dentistry. He was the Director of both VA Central Dental Laboratory (CDL) locations (Dallas and Washington, D.C.).
He also maintained a clinical practice as a prosthodontist in the Dallas VA Dental Service.

Dr. Ball was an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Sciences at the Baylor College of Dentistry, working in the pre-doctoral Removable Prosthodontic clinic from 2005-2012.

Dr. Ball was a former Director of the Prosthodontic Residency Program at the Houston VA Medical Center. Also, he was a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center- Houston Dental Branch.

In 1977, Dr. Ball earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry and completed the General Practice Residency Program at the Kansas City VA Medical Center in 1978. He completed the Prosthodontic Residency training program at the Houston VA Medical Center in 1994 and became a diplomat of the American Board of Prosthodontics in 1997. He was re-certified in 2005 and 2013. Dr. Ball is a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists and International College of Dentists. He is an ADA member and was a former V.A. delegate to the ADA House of Delegates. He was President of the American Prosthodontic Society in 2013-2014. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American College of Prosthodontists.
