Dr. Cynthia S. Petrie serves as the Chair of the Department of Restorative Clinical Sciences at UMKC School of Dentistry and holds the title of Dr. George Tanaka Hawaii Professor of Restorative Dentistry. Dr. Petrie has earned Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees from the University of Athens, School of Dentistry and UMKC School of Dentistry. In 2000, she completed a residency in Graduate Prosthodontics at UMKC School of Dentistry and received a Certificate in Prosthodontics and a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology. Dr. Petrie has completed more than 1,000 hours of continuing education and has 32 published articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed dental journals. As a UMKC faculty member, Dr. Petrie earned tenure in the Department of Restorative Dentistry in 2006 and has been teaching dental students the principles of Prosthodontics in clinic and didactic courses since 2000. Dr. Petrie maintains a Faculty Practice limited to Prosthodontics since 2001. Dr. Petrie is active in several professional organizations. She is the Missouri President for the American College of Prosthodontists and a past President of the OKU Rho Chapter. She serves on the Test Construction Committee for the American Dental Association National Dental Board Examination. Dr. Petrie is a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Prosthodontics and Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. Dr. Petrie is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontiststs.
