Dr. Brenda Bohaty is Nelson Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. Concurrently she is the Director of the Residency Program in Pediatric Dentistry at the Children’s Mercy Hospital and Clinics in Kansas City Missouri. Dr. Bohaty received her D.D.S. degree from the University Of Nebraska Medical Center College Of Dentistry in 1985. She completed her M.S. degree and certificate in Pediatric Dentistry at Baylor College of Dentistry in 1987 and became Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry in 1994. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and completed the AAPD Leadership Institute II in 2009. In conjunction with her academic duties at UMKC and Children’s Mercy Hospital, she was a clinical practitioner in the Dental Faculty practice for twenty years. Dr. Bohaty was the principal investigator for a research investigation (K-23 grant) funded by NIH and has served as a consultant to a number of other funded research endeavors. Currently, Dr. Bohaty teaches both clinical and didactic courses in the undergraduate and graduate pediatric dentistry programs and participates in research and service activities in both institutions. She has also been involved in web-based education programs for the past four years. As a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, she has served on the Council of Pre-Doctoral Education as the Council Chair. She is currently an Expert Consultant on the Council of Pre-Doctoral Education, is a member of the Post-Doctoral In-Service Examination committee, and recently completed service as a member of the Pediatric Dentistry Review Committee for the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
