The Dental Research Explorer Post meeting, held October 4th, represented the third in a series of eight sessions that are targeted at local high school and college students who have an interest in dentistry. The Explorer Post provides prospective dental students with exposure to individuals in the dental profession and invaluable hands-on- experience.

Shankar Rengasamy, DDS, who served as this session’s guest speaker, presented a PowerPoint lecture and engaged the members in a question an answer period on his specialty, Orthodontics. The second hour of the meeting was managed by members of the Student National Dental Association/Hispanic Student Dental Association. President Brandon Jackson and vice president Arianna Jackson facilitated a drilling exercise with the Dental Research Explorer members. UMKC faculty members, Jack Nelson, DDS, and Lance Godley, DDS, were also on-hand to assist with the hands-on project.  Find meeting photos here.
