Course Objectives:

  • Identification of hard and soft tissue landmarks
  • Safe assembling and handling of the anesthesia armamentarium
  • Procedures and precautions for the safe and effective delivery of anesthesia
  • Indications and contraindications of various anesthetic agents
  • Ability to recognize manage, and prevent local and systemic complications
  • Hands-on experience with maxillary and mandibular injection techniques
  • Course culminates in a written and practical examination

PLEASE NOTE: Participants must act as a peer patient or must secure a patient able to receive local anesthesia

Registrants must submit the following documentation prior to the course:

  • Purchase liability insurance policy
  • Current CPR Healthcare Provider certification and state licensure
  • Physician’s written approval to participate in the course if pregnant

Dr. Liz Kaz has been faculty at University of Missouri – Kansas City, School of Dentistry since 2015 teaching in the division of dental hygiene entry-level, degree-completion, and graduate programs. She serves as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for the School of Dentistry.  Dr. Kaz’s areas of interest in dentistry include local anesthesia and pain control and periodontal instrumentation. She has taught local anesthesia courses and continuing education programs in Wisconsin, Arizona, Kansas and Missouri.
