Dr. Tim Cox, endowed professor in dental and musculoskeletal tissue research, Department of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences, recently played host in his lab to Monica Parada-Sanchez, a member of the dentistry faculty at the University of Antioquia, Medellín, Colombia. A two year NIH/NIDCR R03 grant as primary investigator for Wnt5a/Ror2 Signaling in Jaw Bone Development: The NIDCR Small Grant Program for New Investigators (R03) supports research scientists in the early stage of their career.
A Wood Johnson Foundation - Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program grant as primary investigator for Dynamic and Molecular Mechanisms of Mandibular Bone Development: This is a four-year award for junior researchers from historically disadvantaged backgrounds committed to academics and mentoring protogees.
An American Dental Association Gold Medal Fellowship as a part of Dr. Martha Somerman's 2021 ADA Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Dental Research: The ADA has presented the award every three years since 1985 to recognize individuals who have contributed to the advancement of dentistry or major improvement in the oral health of the public through basic or clinical research. As part of the award, Somerman, a renowned scientist who served as director of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) for eight years selected Bumann to receive funding to support her research.
A College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry - N. Sue Seale Pediatric Research Award as PI for Adverse Childhood Experiences and Tooth Eruption: The award is made to full-time pediatric dentist faculty in the first ten years of their career.
