Advocating for Dentistry

Each year the Missouri Dental Association Legislative Day gives dental students a chance to network and learn about issues facing the profession. Though treacherous travel conditions limited the size of the UMKC School of Dentistry’s participation this year, four students and two faculty members still participated on Jan. 30: third-year dental students Fred Drummond, Ashley Thomas, Dylan Love and Trent Finley, and Dr. Aaron Bumann, adjunct clinical professor, and Dr. Jared Gerhardt, assistant clinical professor of restorative clinical sciences. They joined the delegation from across the state in meeting majority and minority leadership in both legislative chambers. The event was a great opportunity for students and faculty to join with alumni and the practicing community to advocate for dentistry.
