Dr. Ling Ye has joint appointments in the Departments of Oral Biology and Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics. He is currently holding a prestigious K22 grant, awarded by the National institutes of Health/National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. Dr. Ye’s main research interests involve dentin matrix protein 1, which plays a key role in tooth formation and maintenance of tooth structure. He won a Young Investigator Award in the 26th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR), Seattle, WA (2004), and Warner Lambert Hanton Award Finalist in the 32nd Annual Meeting of the American Association for Dental Research (AADR), San Antonio, TX (2003). Previously at UMKC, Dr. Ye held positions as a Research Assistant Professor, Research Associate, and Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Oral Biology. Prior to moving to the U.S., Dr. Ye was an Assistant Professor at West China University of Medical Sciences. Besides his research activities, Dr. Ye teaches the Growth & Development course in the D.D.S. program.
