Dr. Ronald Sakaguchi is Associate Dean for Technology & Innovation at Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry, and Professor in Biomaterials & Biomechanics in the Department of Restorative Dentistry. He received a B.S. in cybernetics and biomedical engineering from UCLA in 1976, D.D.S. from Northwestern University School of Dentistry in 1980, M.S. in prosthodontics from the University of Minnesota in 1984, and Ph.D. in biomaterials and biomechanics from the University of Greenwich, London, England in 1988. Dr. Sakaguchi practiced general dentistry in Chicago from 1980-1982. He joined the research and clinical faculty at the University of Minnesota in 1984 and was promoted to associate professor with tenure in 1993. He maintained a practice limited to prosthodontics from 1984 to 1993. Dr. Sakaguchi joined the faculty at Oregon Health & Science University in 1994, and served as Assistant Dean for Research before his appointment to the current position. He has been a finalist for the OHSU faculty senate awards in teaching and leadership. Dr. Sakaguchi has served many leadership roles in the scientific community including secretary, vice-president, and president of the DMG-IADR, board memberships for the Academy of Dental Materials and Journal of Dentistry, and Associate Editor for /Dental Materials/. He is a fellow of the Academy of Dental Materials. Dr. Sakaguchi is co-editor of Craig's Restorative Dental Materials, 12th edition, published in 2006.
