Dr. Jeffrey Paul Gorski is a Professor with the Bone Biology Program in the Department of Oral Biology, UMKC School of Dentistry. Dr. Gorski also maintains graduate privileges with the School of Biological Sciences, UMKC. He received his Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, oncology, and chemistry from the McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research, University of Wisconsin-Madison. He did postdoctoral training in molecular immunology under Hans Muller-Eberhard and Tony Hugli at the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, La Jolla, CA and was a faculty member at the Mayo Clinic Medical School, Rochester, MN and Director of the Orthopaedic Biochemistry laboratory at Mayo from 1979 to 1987 prior to moving to UMKC in 1987. Dr. Gorski has spent yearlong sabbaticals at the University of Minnesota (1981-1982) with Ted Oegema and at Harvard Medical School (1997-1998) with Bjorn R. Olsen, along with extended research visits at Merck Research Labs (Westpoint, PA) with Gideon Rodan, the National Institute of Dental Research-NIH (Bethesda, MD) with Larry W. Fisher, and University of Bern (Bern, Switzerland) with Daniel Studer. Jeff is presently a member of the Bone Biology Program and a Professor in the Department of Oral Biology, School of Dentistry. He has mentored M.Sc., Ph.D. students, and postdoctoral fellows, in addition to medical and dental students at Mayo and UMKC in addition to serving on over 30 Ph.D. graduate committees. Dr. Gorski is a past recipient of the UKC Trustees Research Fellowship, the Charnley Award from the Hip Society, and the Zimmer Research Award. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Biological Chemistry and is a past member of NIH, American Heart Association, and Canadian Research Council study sections and review panels.
