Services Available

UMKC School of Dentistry offers a comprehensive range of oral health care services. To make an initial appointment, call (816) 235-2100. People with speech or hearing impairments can call 1-800-735-2966 (TT) or 1-800-735-2466 (voice). Depending on the type of treatment you require, you may be referred for additional professional services within the school.

Implant Dentistry can involve a range of techniques to replace missing teeth with various devices that are anchored to the bone. Phone (816) 235-2121.

Services for Facial Pain and Temporomandibular Disorders treatment provided for patients with chronic and unusual facial and tooth pain.

Oncology Dental Support specialized clinicians help to prevent and/or ease the oral complications associated with many cancer therapies.

Oral Care for Patients with Complicated Medical Conditions provides evaluation and management of oral and dental conditions that are caused by many medical problems.

Operative Dentistry utilizes a variety of materials such as tooth-colored composite plastics, silver amalgam and cast gold fillings to repair decayed and broken teeth to meet individual needs.

Dental Hygiene focuses on maintaining healthy teeth and gums by removing plaque and tartar above and below the gum line. Other services include fluoride treatments, sealants, teeth whitening, oral hygiene instructions, diet counseling, and tobacco cessation assistance.

Endodontics provides a range of surgical (such as root canals) and non-surgical treatment options designed to save teeth and to diagnose and treat facial pain.

Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics treatments are aimed at correcting irregular tooth development and poorly aligned teeth with non-surgical appliances such as braces. In some cases, surgical techniques are used to establish normal function and improve appearance.

Periodontics employs sophisticated techniques to prevent, diagnose and treat diseases of the gums and tissues and bone that surround and support teeth. Both non-surgical and surgical methods to treat periodontal disease.

Pediatric Dentistry introduces children to good preventive dental health habits. Additionally, basic and specialty oral care services from fillings to sealants and space maintenance are provided.

Fixed Prosthodontics restores broken or weak teeth with various materials and procedures such as crowns, veneers and inlays. When appropriate, missing teeth can be replaced with non-removable bridgework.

Removable Prosthodontics is treatment to replace missing teeth and other oral structures when fixed bridgework is not an option. Individualized solutions may include full or partial dentures.

Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology receive patient referrals from within the School of Dentistry and community dentists when sophisticated images are needed of the jaw, head or neck.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery provides treatment for referred patients requiring the extraction of wisdom teeth and other procedures related to diseases, injuries and deformities of the mouth, face and head.

Oral Pathology is the patient service that identifies, studies and assists in the treatment of oral diseases through microscopic, laboratory and other diagnostic means.

Clinical Research - If you are interested in participating in clinical research, you may be eligible to receive all research treatment and follow-up at no cost. The School’s Clinical Research Center evaluates newly developed dental treatments, products, instruments and equipment.
