Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics

An orthodontist is a dentist specializing in the correction of poorly aligned teeth, or jaws that are not developing properly. Orthodontic treatment may include the use of braces, various appliances, or surgical techniques to improve the teeth’s function and appearance.

The UMKC Advanced Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics has existed for nearly five decades and graduates are currently practicing in 36 states and four foreign countries.

This outstanding program permits the residents time to complete treatment of their clinical cases as well as time to complete a research project and manuscript. The residents enjoy a computerized clinic facility which is a working model that simulates the private practice environment. This is a full-time, 30-month program that begins in July each year.
