Becoming a Patient

The treatment process at the School of Dentistry differs from that of a private office. On your visit you will receive orientation and X-ray appointment so we can determine your dental needs and then match you with a student.

Your student will examine your mouth and review your medical history. At the end of this examination, you will schedule another visit. Your student doctor will consult with faculty about your dental needs, and develop a treatment plan that includes faculty input and approval. You will learn about the dental work you need, the fees for that treatment and the amount of time your treatment will require. If you agree to this plan, treatment will begin. Most appointments start at 9:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. and last most of the morning or afternoon.

To make an appointment for an initial visit, contact the School of Dentistry: Phone: (816) 235-2100. People with speech or hearing impairments can call 1-800-735-2966 (TT) or 1-800-735-2466 (voice). You must accompany your children when they come to the School for treatment if they are under age 18.
