2007 Alaskan Cruise

A Whale of a Good Time
The UMKC School of Dentistry launched its first Continuing Dental Education cruise experience August 19-25, 2007, aboard the Holland America, USS Noordam, the newest vista-class luxury ship to sail to Alaska from Seattle, Wash. The CE programs were presented by Charles Dunlap (DDS ’60), who lectured on clinical pathology, and Annie Olgilvie, who lectured on office management.

The 51 cruise participants were welcomed aboard the USS Noordam with a bouquet of fresh flowers in their room and a cocktail reception sponsored by the UMKC Dental Alumni Association. The itinerary began with a visit to Glacier Bay, Juneau, and Sitka, Alaska; then it was on to Prince Rupert, B.C., and Victoria, B.C. Throughout the cruise alumni, friends and spouses enjoyed a variety of expeditions: adventure by float-plane, rope and zip challenges, salmon fishing, whale watching, spotting wildlife, and plenty of souvenir shopping was also available. A whale of a good time was had by all! Comments: “The entertainment was superb”; “Very nice; enjoyed every moment”; “Well organized!”; “The ship was magnificent in every way.”
