Classes of the 1970s

Jim Kulild (D.D.S. ’73)
Kansas City , Mo.
has returned, with great pleasure and excitement, to his dental alma mater to establish a graduate program in endodontics. The graduate program has been made possible by the generous contributions of some wonderful benefactors and the outstanding leadership of the Dental School . Dr. Kulild says, “It’s great to be back.” He and his wife, Jan, have three daughters:  Ana (a dentist), Emily (a dental hygienist), and Jamie.

Paul A. Jones (D.D.S. ’74)
Prairie Village , Kan.
practiced in Lawrence, Kan., for two years, then spent two years in Lincoln, Neb., specializing in endodontics. He has practiced endodontics in the greater Kansas City area since 1978. He and his wife, Linda, have been married 31 years and live in Prairie Village , Kan. In June 1999, they took a year off and sailed their 45 ft. sailboat about 6,000 miles from Florida to Trinidad and back with their older daughter and her fiance. They visited over 60 different islands. A highlight of the trip was when their younger daughter joined them to attend a free Jimmy Buffett concert on the quay in St. Barts, as well as spending Christmas and the Millennium New Year’s there.

Dennis Woofter (D.D.S. ’75)
Washington , D.C.
was promoted to rear admiral of the U.S. Navy Dental Corps, on June 22, 2002. On August 19, 2002, in Washington, D.C., he was assigned as the 33rd chief of the Navy Dental Corps.

James Elias (D.D.S. '79)
Blue Springs , Mo.
won a gold medal in the 8th Annual AACD National Smile Gallery Competition, May 11, in Madison, Wis. The award was given for exhibiting outstanding skill in cosmetic dental procedures, Special Effects Category.  He was honored to speak at the meeting this year. He loves working with his patients and changing lives, one smile at a time!  He is the son of retired physician Dr. David Elias. "I remember the days of my father caring for people, making house calls, being a part of people's families. It is sad to see how medical and dental technology has soared, but how patient care has gone downhill. I feel blessed being a dentist and getting to help people with their health and their dreams."
