Nick Brand (D.D.S. ’90)
Winter Springs , Fla.
and LeAnn celebrated their 10-year wedding anniversary
November 24, 2000 . They were also delighted to welcome
their first child, born on June 8, 1999 , a boy, Parker
Nicholas Brand. They are expecting their second child
in July 2001. Nick has had his private practice in Longwood
, Fla. , since January 1995, and enjoys it very much.
He recently passed the fellowship exam for the Academy
of General Dentistry and should receive his fellowship
at the annual meeting in August 2001.

was an officer in the U.S. Naval Dental Corps from 1991
to 1995. She was stationed on Parris Island in 1992
and in the Great Lakes area until 1995 when she came
to UMKC for her residency in periodontics. Since 1998
she has been in private practice in Olathe , Kan.
Marcie C. Calvin (DH ’98)
Kansas City , Mo.
welcomed daughter Bailey Corinne on her due date of
August 7, 2000 , at 5:10 p.m. weighing, in at 6 lbs.
10 oz. Appproximately six weeks later, on Sept. 18,
Calvin’s great aunt Thelma passed away, who had lived
with Calvin for almost four years.

served five years in United States Air Force, two and
half years of which were spent in England . He and his
wife of 10 years, Kay, have three children: Karis (7);
Karl (5); and Bruce (1 1/2).

remarried three years ago and has a 12-year-old stepdaughter,
Sarah, and a son, Nick (7). His wife, Jennifer, is a
network engineer at Sprint.
Julie A. Hemingway (D.D.S. ’94)
Santa Barbara , Calif.
sold her practice in Santa Maria , Calif. and joined
her father, Glenn Hemingway (D.D.S. ’62), full time in
their Santa Barbara practice in June 2000.
Jeff Kagihara (D.D.S. ’91)
Honolulu , Hawaii
was surfing when he felt his chest tighten. He came
in and by then was experiencing tingling in his jaw.
He was taken to the hospital where he underwent triple
by-pass surgery. He is recovering nicely and is practicing
part time.
Catherine Kaiser (DH M.S. ’98)
LaCrosse, Wis.
is associate dean of Human Services at Western Wisconsin
Technical College in LaCrosse. She has been chosen to
participate in the National Institute for Leadership
Development, Leaders 2001 program, an international
program for administrators and faculty in higher education.
At WWTC she supervises more than 30 faculty and staff
in nine programs. She earned a certificate in gerontology
from UMKC in 1997. She is a member of Sigma Phi Omega,
the Honor Society in Gerontology, the National Council
of Instructional Administrators, the National Network
of Health Career Programs in Two-Year Colleges , the
American Dental Hygienists’ Association, the American
Dental Assistant’s Association, the American Dental
Education Association, and the American Society for
Geriatric Dentistry.
Stephen J. Mancuso (D.D.S. ’90)
Columbus , Neb.
announces the birth of his fourth child, Stephen August
“Gus” Mancuso. He joins two sisters, Morgan and Macy,
and a brother Sam. Dr. Mancuso writes that his family
is now complete, and he will no longer be contributing
to the world’s population. He wanted to keep up with
good friend and classmate, Kevin Krause, but it is time
for Kevin and Lana to take the lead.
Scott A. McClain (D.D.S. ’91)
Bridgeton , Mo.
has three children: Carley (7), Kirby (4), and Nathan,
(2), and a new house. He is on staff at Barnes-Jewish
Hospital and Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis
. He is also in group practice at Premier Dental and
on the Advisory Board at Allied Medical College.
Sidney A. McKnight, III (D.D.S. ’97)
Prairie Village , Kan.
announces a baby boy, Samuel Curry McKnight, who was
born Nov. 10, 1999 . Dr. McKnight started perio practice
in April 2000, with Randolph Oliver. Abbie has been
in practice with Lynne Schutte since July 1998.
DeAun Regan (D.D.S. ’95)
Parkville , Mo.
has a daughter, Rachael, who was accepted to dental
school for the Class of 2005. DeAun and Dave also have
a 3-year-old son. Daughter Carmen goes to MU, and son
Jason is a junior in high school.

has two children: Lexie (8), and Trevor (6). Dr. Rick
is currently playing banjo for the world famous Baldknobbers
in Branson , Mo.

got married in 1995 and has two boys: Garrett

Amy Stratton (D.D.S. ’96)
Fort Collins , Col.
announces the arrival of Alexander Walker Stratton,
born June 24, 2001 . He joins a sister, Alexis

is currently in his second year of law school and hopes
to graduate in 2003 (after four years of part-time law
study).
Rick Weber (D.D.S. ’91)
St. Peters , Mo.
and his wife have settled in St. Peters , Mo. , and
enjoy watching their four children continue to blossom
and grow. Oral surgery has been very good to all. The
happy couple’s free time is spent either coaching or
attending the latest of their kids’ sporting events.
They are blessed with good health, and hope all is well
with all Rick’s classmates.

Douglas Wyckoff (D.D.S. ’92)
Cameron , Mo.
is involved with the Northwest Missouri Dental Society
and several state dental initiatives. He has been active
in supporting programs for dental students, including
a two-day program to help students who are taking board
examinations. For his efforts, he received the ADA “Golden
Apple New Dentist Leadership Award” in 2000. He was
also chosen as the MDA’s New Dental Leader. Additionally,
he has become a fellow in the American College of Dentists.
He and wife, Melinda, have two children, Daniel Schmitz,
(8) and Tryston Wyckoff (3).
