Class Reunions Create a Lasting Memory

Class reunions are wonderful, aren’t they? It’s great to get together and reminisce about our experiences as students and catch up on what is happening in the professional and private lives of our colleagues. After the reunion is over, we can return to our routine with the memory of a great time and anticipation of our next gathering.

You can add some real significance to the occasion and help your profession by helping today’s students. I’m talking about establishing a scholarship, named for your class, and awarding that scholarship every year to a grateful student, already burdened with debt.

For the last five years classes celebrating their reunions have included a scholarship campaign as part of their activities. Ten classes have been successful in accruing the necessary $10,000 corpus to endow and present scholarships annually at the annual Scholarship Dinner in the fall. This year at least one other class will join the group, the Class of 1976.  There are several other classes who, with leadership and commitment, could successfully complete a campaign, and even more who could initiate the effort.

Hopefully you enjoy a nice living and a profession you love, but the day will come when you want to turn your practice over to the next generation. Will there be a well-trained professional to continue to serve your patients? Join your classmates to help the future of dentistry with financial encouragement to our students. The Rinehart Foundation will recognize your class with a medallion; but a future dentist will remember forever the help they received to complete their education. The increase in class sizes beginning in the fall of 2002 increases the need for additional scholarships. Help your class establish a meaningful legacy.

To inquire about establishing a named scholarship, call Paula in the alumni office at 1-800-887-4477 or (816) 235-2023.
