The 2nd annual Scholarship Golf
Tournament, sponsored by the UMKC Dental Alumni
Association teed-off Friday, August 3, at Ironhorse
Golf Club at 9 a.m. Golfers enjoyed a great day
of golf, fun and camaraderie while raising money
for dental student scholarships. As a result of
the money raised from last year’s innaugural tournament,
three $1,000 scholarships were presented to students
for the 2001-02 academic year. Next year the UMKC
Dental Alumni Association Scholarship Golf Tournament
will be able to double that number.
The Steering Committee, chaired
by Sam Hayes (D.D.S. ’66), included Hugh Bruner (D.D.S.
’61), Dean Dyer (D.D.S. ’65), A. C. Edwards (D.D.S.
’62), Eric Johnson (D.D.S. ’66), Michael McCunniff
(D.D.S. ’83), Paul Perme (D.D.S. ’56), and Joe Spalitto
(D.D.S. ’72). Even though no one drove away with
the new Chrysler being awarded for a hole-in-one,
several good scores were turned in.
