Jane C. Atkinson (D.D.S. '81),
Washington , D.C.
is the 2001 Harold Loe Scholar, a fellowship program created in honor of a past director of NIDCR. This fellowship is funded by the Procter & Gamble Company and organized in collaboration with ADEA. Atkinson serves as an assistant dean at the University of Maryland Dental School.

Kelly (Burke) (D.D.S. '84) and Marc Barnett (D.D.S. '84),
Ozark , Mo.
are finally tying the knot, professionally that is. After 17 years of practicing separately in Nixa and Ozark, Marc is joining Kelly in a new office in Ozark. The Barnett Family Dental Practice officially opened in September 2001. Marc and Kelly have two children:  Tish (14) and Burke (10). 

Dr. Robert E. Butler (D.D.S. '84),
Webster Groves , Mo.
and his wife, Christine, welcomed son Peter James (7 lb., 14. oz.; 21" long) on October 14.

Phelan R. Thomas (D.D.S. '85),
West Des Moines , Iowa
published an article in the April 2001 issue of PPAD (Practical Procedures and Aesthetic Dentistry, Vol. 13, No. 3) entitled, "Bilateral Anterior Restoration Utilizing a Fixed Partial Denture." He was recently installed as a Diplomate of the American Board of Aesthetic Dentistry at the 25th anniversary of the American Society for Dental Aesthetics meeting in New York . He and his wife, Caryl, have four children:  Stan (15), Jordan (13), Evyn (8) and Carson (6).
