Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor, Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Position # 34261

The University of Missouri – Kansas City seeks to fill a 100% benefit eligible, full-time, non-tenure track faculty position at the Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor level in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry.  The department is responsible for pre-doctoral education, research, patient care, and service. Specific responsibilities will concentrate on pre-doctoral classroom and clinical instruction.  Preferred candidates should have a DMD/DDS degree, advanced training in Pediatric Dentistry and should be eligible for licensure in Missouri. Candidates with Missouri licensure may have opportunities for clinical practice.  Interviews of qualified candidates will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.


Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor, Prosthodontic Faculty, Position # 38763

The University of Missouri-Kansas City is seeking faculty members to fill the position of prosthodontist. The position is a 100% benefit eligible, full time, non-tenure track position at the rank of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Clinical Sciences. The faculty member will provide instruction for pre-doctoral dental students. This includes instruction and evaluation of students in removable and fixed prosthodontics, implants, and esthetic dentistry in both the clinic and pre-clinic lab.  The faculty member will also provide clinical instruction in diagnosis, treatment planning, and restorative dentistry as needed.   A DDS/DMD or equivalent and either board eligible or certified in prosthodontics are required.  Preference will be given to those with significant clinical experience with a strong emphasis on removable prosthodontics.  For non US DDS candidates with US training and board eligibility in prosthodontics, an internationally-trained faculty DDS program is available after an initial period of service. Interviews of qualified candidates will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Qualified candidates may be eligible to participate in faculty practice one day per week.


Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor, Generalist, Department Restorative Clinical Sciences, Position #58422

The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry is seeking general dentist faculty members to fill a positions in the Restorative Clinical Science department. The positions are a 100% benefit eligible, full time, non-tenure track positions at the rank of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor. The faculty member will provide clinical instruction and oversight for pre-doctoral dental students. This includes instruction and evaluation of students in diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative dentistry, removable and fixed prosthodontics, endodontics, and non-surgical periodontics. The faculty member is expected to provide didactic and preclinical lab instruction, as assigned.  A DDS/DMD or equivalent is required. Eligibility for Missouri licensure and Advanced Education in General Dentistry/General Practice Residency training or equivalent is preferred. Qualified candidates may be eligible to participate in faculty practice one day per week.


Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor, multi-discipline Dentist  - Department of Oral Pathology, Radiology and Medicine - Position # 64988

The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry is seeking to fill the position of a multi-discipline dentist at the rank of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor (non-tenure track). The position is a 100% benefit eligible, full time position (0.75 FTE) for 3.5 days per week.  Rank will be determined based on experience and credentials. The position activities will cross multiple discipline educational content areas to support the mission of the School in providing quality, broad-based education for DDS and Advanced Education students/residents.  Responsibilities of this position include pre-doctoral didactic instruction; Advanced Education (AE) didactic and seminar instruction; and other limited indirect clinical supervision may be assigned. The position reports to the Chair of the Department of Oral Pathology, Radiology and Medicine.
A DDS or DMD with eligibility for Missouri licensure and Board eligibility in Endodontics are required. Interviews of qualified candidates will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
Specific position responsibilities include:

  • Responsibility for the predoctoral instruction in diagnosis and management of temporo-mandibular disorders/facial pain.
  • Assistance with other instructional areas, as assigned (i.e. Oral Medicine)
  • Course directorship of the AE biomaterials course; assistance in predoctoral biomaterials instruction
  • Willingness to focus learning/preparation in Evidence-based TMD instruction that the School would support
  • Assistance with support in the AE program in Endodontics, including participation in seminars, resident instruction
  • Compliance with CoDA standards, UMKC School and campus policies and UM Collected Rules and Regulations
  • Valuing diversity, appreciation for inclusion
  • Other duties as assigned

Department Chair, Associate Professor/Professor, Department of Oral Surgery and Hospital Dentistry, Position # 65502

The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry is seeking to fill the position of Department Chair of Oral Surgery and Hospital Dentistry at the rank of Associate Professor/ Professor (tenure track). The position is a 100% benefit eligible, full time position for 5 days per week. One day per week may be reserved for private practice, research, development and other school -related activities. Rank will be determined based on experience and credentials. This department is responsible for pre-doctoral and advanced education training for students, patient care, service and research in oral surgery and hospital dentistry. Responsibilities of this position include pre-doctoral classroom and clinical instruction oversight and general oversight responsibility for the advanced education program in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. A DDS or DMD with eligibility for Missouri licensure and Board certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery preferred.

Specific position responsibilities include:
• Leadership in oversight of the daily operations of the department including Advanced Ed program in OMFS
• Supervision of the activities of the Department including scheduling, staffing responsibility, management of faculty workloads and assignment
• Accountability of departmental faculty and staff for advancing the goals of the department and the School of Dentistry
• Decision-making regarding departmental goals and operations
• Development, articulation and support for a departmental culture of teamwork, responsibility, and accountability for educating pre-doctoral students primarily; support of other departmental goals within that context, such as honors students, and advanced education student clinical supervision – all in the context of educating quality practitioners and caring for the patient
• Communication back to faculty, staff regarding important issues from the Administrator’s meeting
• Regular meetings with the dean to advance important departmental issues
• Participation in the monthly Administrator’s meeting
• Compliance with CoDA standards, UMKC School and campus policies and UM Collected Rules and Regulations

Part-Time Adjunct Assistant Professor, Restorative Clinical Sciences, Position 28352

The University of Missouri-Kansas City is seeking faculty members to fill part-time generalist positions. The positions are non-benefit eligible, non-tenure track positions at the rank of Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Clinical Sciences working two or more days per week. The faculty member will provide instruction for pre-doctoral dental students. This includes instruction and evaluation of students in diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative dentistry, endodontics, and non-surgical periodontics. A DDS/DMD or equivalent with eligibility for Missouri licensure is required. 


Part Time Clinical Instructor, Division of Dental Hygiene, Position 43360

The School of Dentistry is seeking a part time, non-benefit eligible, Clinical Instructor to provide clinical instruction to dental hygiene students in the dental hygiene clinic two to three days per week. Qualified applicants must have graduated from an accredited dental hygiene program, have a Bachelor’s degree and be eligible for Missouri licensure and credentialing in clinical instruction methodology. Job responsibilities include supervision and assessment of dental hygiene clinic skills, faculty calibration, HIPPA, OSHA and CPR certification (provided by SOD), and student mentoring.


Part Time Clinical Assistant Professor, Oral Surgery and Hospital Dentistry Department, Position # 65795 and 65796

The University of Missouri-Kansas City seeks two part time, non-tenure track, non-benefit eligible, faculty members at the Clinical Assistant Professor level in the Oral Surgery and Hospital Dentistry Department.  This department is responsible for post-doctoral and pre-doctoral education, and patient care in Oral Surgery.  Specific responsibilities will concentrate on pre-doctoral classroom and clinical instruction in Oral Surgery with opportunities for clinical practice for the qualified candidate.  Candidates should have a DMD/DDS degree, and board certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  Interviews of qualified candidates will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
