Clinical Assistant Professor in Kansas City, MO, Prosthodontic Faculty, Position 38690

Prosthodontic faculty position in Restorative Clinical Sciences Department.  The department is responsible for pre-doctoral education, research, patient care, and service.  Specific responsibilities concentrate on pre-doctoral classroom, laboratory and clinical instructions, with opportunities for research and clinical practice for the qualified candidate.  DMD/DDS degree and advanced training in Prosthodontics.  ALTERNATIVE DEGREE REQUIREMENT: foreign equivalent to a dental degree.

Dental Faculty, Continuous Posting, Position 58422

The University of Missouri-Kansas City is seeking faculty members to fill several positions with specific emphases. All positions are a 100% benefit eligible, full time, non-tenure track at the rank of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor in the Departments of Restorative Clinical Sciences or Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  A DDS/DMD or equivalent with eligibility for Missouri licensure is required unless otherwise noted.  Qualified candidates may be eligible to participate in faculty practice one day per week. 

Please reference the appropriate emphasis (Generalist, Operative, Orthodontics, or Prosthodontics) in your letter of interest to ensure proper routing of your application:

  • Generalist - provide instruction for pre-doctoral dental students. This includes instruction and evaluation of students in diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative dentistry, endodontics, and non-surgical periodontics.  Advanced Education in General Dentistry/General Practice Residency training or equivalent is preferred.
  • Operative – provide didactic and laboratory instruction for pre-doctoral dental students with an emphasis on Operative Dentistry.  Clinically, responsibilities will include instruction in all aspects of general dentistry.  Advanced Education in General Dentistry/General Practice Residency training or advanced training in Operative Dentistry is preferred.
  • Orthodontics – provide instruction for pre-doctoral dental students and orthodontic residents in the classroom, laboratory and clinic.  Applicants must have a certificate from an Advanced Education Program in Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics and a commitment to teaching and service.  Clinical orthodontic experience, a MS or equivalent degree, and ABO certification are preferred. US DDS/DMD and Missouri licensure desirable, not required. For non US DDS candidates with US training and board eligibility in prosthodontics, an internationally-trained faculty DDS program is available after an initial period of service.
  • Prosthodontics – provide instruction for pre-doctoral dental students in the classroom, laboratory and clinic with opportunities for research and clinical practice for the qualified candidate. Candidates should have a DMD/DDS degree, and advanced training in Prosthodontics. For non US DDS candidates with US training and board eligibility in prosthodontics, an internationally-trained faculty DDS program is available after an initial period of service.

Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor, Position 34867

The University of Missouri-Kansas City is seeking a faculty member to fill the position of general dentist. The position is a 100% benefit eligible, full time, non-tenure track position at the rank of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Clinical Sciences. The faculty member will provide instruction for pre-doctoral dental students and/or Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residents. This includes instruction and evaluation of students in diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative dentistry, endodontics, and non-surgical periodontics. A DDS/DMD or equivalent with eligibility for Missouri licensure is required.  Advanced Education in General Dentistry/General Practice Residency training or equivalent is preferred. Experience in restoration of implants is preferred.  Qualified candidates may be eligible to participate in faculty practice one day per week.  Preference will be given to candidates with experience and interest in management of facial pain and TMD’s.


Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) – Position 38735

UMKC School of Dentistry is seeking applications for a full time, 100% FTE, benefit eligible position of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor in the AEGD program. The AEGD program is a CODA approved residency for 6 first year residents and 2 second year residents.  The faculty member will coordinate clinical activities and participate in the didactic activities of the program.  The candidate will be expected to have a proven record of clinical skills that cover the field of comprehensive general dentistry.  The candidate must be well versed in the surgical and restorative aspects of implant dentistry including the virtual placement of dental implants utilizing a CBCT and surgical guides.

Qualified candidates should hold a DDS or DMD with 10 years of clinical experience and must be eligible for clinical licensure in Missouri. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a General Practice Residency or Advanced Education in General Dentistry certificate with prior teaching experience.  The successful candidate is expected to be able to provide direct clinical supervision of residents and to provide clinical care in the faculty practice.  Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience. Interviews of qualified candidates will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.


Tanaka Chair, Restorative Clinical Sciences, Position 00037173

UMKC School of Dentistry is seeking applications for a full time, 100% FTE, benefit eligible position of Tanaka Chair, Restorative Clinical Sciences. The Tanaka Chair provides leadership in meeting UMKC School of Dentistry’s educational, research, patient care and service missions. The Restorative Clinical Sciences Department provides classroom and clinical instruction for pre-doctoral dental students in the areas of operative dentistry, fixed and removable prosthodontics, esthetic dentistry and implants. The Tanaka Chair will work collaboratively with the school’s advanced education and dental hygiene programs and other departments in a comprehensive care environment. The Tanaka Chair will be expected to embrace a contemporary vision of practice and innovation, and to envision the future of dental practice.

Qualified candidates should hold a DDS or DMD and preference will be given to candidates who completed a Prosthodontics Residency program (board eligible or certified) or who have completed a General Practice Residency or Advanced Education in General Dentistry certificate. Experience in educational innovation, use of technology in education and leadership is expected with preference given to those with previous leadership, teaching, and research experience. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience. Opportunities for clinical practice may be available for the qualified candidate. Part-Time Adjunct Assistant Professor, Restorative Clinical Sciences, Position 28352
